When is the best time to send marketing emails? – Forbes Advisor

CampaignMonitor studied over 30 billion emails to gather data and found that Mondays had the highest open rates and Tuesdays had the highest click-through rates.

This gives you a starting point for your campaigns. We recommend testing days with emails sent on other days as well and comparing your open rates. We also recommend that you take note of the unsubscribe fees. You have to find that delicate balance between openings and deletions. You will also need to keep in mind who your subscribers are.

For example, you might have a list of retired people who spend their days meeting friends and playing pickleball. Sending them an email in the morning may not be effective because they are unable to respond. You’re better off texting them in the early evening when they check their messages before going to sleep. The best time will depend on the type of customer you have. Finding the right time may require some testing and noticing when open rates are the best.

Another study conducted by Omnisend that analyzed more than 2 billion emails showed that there is little difference between emails sent on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday’s open rates were 11.36%, just 0.03% higher than Wednesday’s open rate of 11.33% and only 0.07% higher than the open rate of Thursday by 11.29%.

Additionally, Omnisend determined that while Tuesday is the best time for open rates, Friday is the best for clicks and conversions. Obviously, you want to close deals, so knowing when the best conversion rate is important. Try different days to see what works best for your business and your email list.

What is the best time of day to send marketing emails?

Just as there is a good day to send emails, there is also a best time to send them. As mentioned above, knowing your target audience is the first step. If you time it right, you can increase the chances that the email will be opened and the message will be well received.

Omnisend’s study looked at emails sent throughout the day. It noted that the highest open rate was at 8 p.m., with an open rate of 59.46%. This was followed by 2pm, when the open rate was 45.39%. Late night fared well too, with a 11pm open rate of 40.66%. The interesting thing about this study is that it was precisely these hours, and not those immediately surrounding them, that were the best.

Similarly, a 2023 HubSpot report interviewed over 150 marketers who said their peak email engagement was between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. and 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.: 00.
